2 March 2007 India, Mumbai

During a visit to India in March, the President of “César Ritz” Colleges Switzerland, Mr Martin Kisseleff, and Ms Tanja Kisseleff (recently appointed Founding Dean for the first year of operation for the Higher Diploma in Hotel and Tourism Management at the Good Shepherd College in Ooty, India), took the opportunity to meet some “César Ritz” alumni at a special meeting organized by Irfan Mirza, the President of the country’s Alumni Chapter. They also took the opportunity to travel to meet a number of alumni throughout the country. Irfan wrote this round-up of these meetings as well as providing some updates on alumni.

The alumni reunion was held in Mumbai on 2 March and it was a pleasure to welcome both Mr Martin Kisseleff and Ms Tanja Kisseleff. Also attending was Sagar Narkar, who brought his wife Varsha along, and Dheeraj Sukhija, who recently completed his management training in the United States. We were also pleased to have Salaka Pulkar joining us. Salaka is not one of our alumni but an employee of our representative, Tasmac, in Pune. It was a good chance for Salaka to get acquainted with some of our ex students.

Apart from the alumni meeting, on their trip around India, the Kisseleffs were pleased to meet a number of alumni. Jocelyn Vas, who followed management training in the US, now works as Assistant Front Office Manager for one of the leading Taj resorts in Goa having previously been Duty Manager at the Marriot Goa. Xavier Furtado graduated in 1989 and is the Managing Director of the Goa Holiday Inn Hotel. Sudhir Gogeneni completed his diploma in 2005 and began his career as a management trainee at one of the 5 star resorts in Kerala. He is currently Housekeeping Executive at the Goa Marriot Resort. John Kodiyil graduated from Le Bouveret in 1991 and then held senior positions at various hotel groups in Cochin. Now, he has joined the Good Shepherd College of Hotel Management, in Ooty, as Administrative Officer. Rangaswamy Venkatesh is the Managing Director of the Annapoorna Hotel Group in India and Nirmal Vasanth is a lecturer in food production at the Jindal School of Hotel Management in Baroda.

Everyone really enjoyed the opportunity to meet with the Kisseleffs and we are already looking forward to the next alumni meeting. If you have any questions regarding the Indian Chapter, please do not hesitate to contact me!
